My New Years painting
Mumps, Etc. is my introduction to WHY?, an indie folk/rap group headed by Berkeley artist Yoni Wolf. It so happens that my favorite track from the album, which you can stream here up until it’s released on October 9th, doesn’t feature rapping, but rather Yoni singing earnestly amongst delicate piano chords and handclaps about how “the things I said to high school counselors haunts me.” The song’s bright and catchy, but there’s definitely a sense of insecurity and vulnerability here.

Love this idea, mostly because fresh herbs are crazy expensive and I never use them all up before they go bad: chop up your herbs and stick them into an ice cube tray, then cover with olive oil and freeze.
Toss a cube or two into your pan whenever you’re in need, and presto: fresh herbs, all winter long.
It’s like I’ve been waiting for this all my life.
